Life Insurance Without a Medical Exam

What no-exam underwriting really involves, and the trade-offs compared with a fully underwritten policy.

No exam is not no underwriting

Carriers using simplified or accelerated underwriting still ask health questions and typically check prescription databases, medical information exchanges, and sometimes motor vehicle records. Answers must be accurate — misstatements can affect a claim.

The trade-offs

The main benefits are speed and convenience, sometimes a decision within days. The trade-off can be a lower maximum face amount or higher pricing than a fully underwritten policy would offer a healthy applicant. Comparing both paths is the only way to know which is better for you.
